Slideshow Video Tips
Slideshow videos are an amazing way to showcase hundreds of photos in a few minutes along with a couple sentimental songs. These are typically great for weddings, events, reunions, parties, funerals, graduations, and overall they make great wallpaper for guests to enjoy. Anyone can make a slideshow these days…it just takes time, software and a good computer.
Some people can get bored if the video is too long and the music is not a good fit. So how do you make it better?
SLIDESHOW VIDEO LENGTH
5 minute is usually the perfect length and then you can loop the video. With that math, that’s about 100 photos with each photo showing every 3 seconds. (EX: 100 photos x 3 seconds = 5 minutes)Which is fairly quick, but our eyes and brains can usually process the image and stories along with it. If a photo is up for 15 seconds, your audience will get bored. (EX: 100 photos x 15 seconds = 25 minutes). Most importantly know your audience, who the slideshow is about, and know your event.
NEEDS
Up to 100 images and 2 or 3 songs is usually perfect.
COLLECTING
Collecting all the images needed can usually be the biggest hassle. What I’d recommend is setting up one location for friends and family to upload. Most people will have photos on their phone already and it’s super simple. Google Drive, Dropbox, Text Message or even Jotform are great solutions for this.
VIDEO
Don’t forget to add video to a slideshow. Video is powerful when you can see, hear, feel emotions, and watch memories. It’s like going back in time and can add a lot of emotion to a slideshow.
PHONES
Phones are powerful cameras and if you really want to spice up your slideshow. Ask your friends and family to record themselves saying something about the event or a memory about a person and send it to you. You’ll be blown away at all the amazing content you just added to your slideshow video. Priceless!
PRESENTING YOUR VIDEO
My favorite way to date, to present is from a laptop, through HDMI, and into a TV. It’s the most common setup for most situations.
